New Horizons Ahead of Iran, Iraq: Araqchi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araqchi hailed the Iranian president’s visit to Iraq as an outcome of awesome public diplomacy that would open new horizons to relations between the two neighbors.

In a post on his X account on Friday, Araqchi said he was delighted to accompany Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in a tour of Iraq, describing the official visit as a “resounding success”.

“Incredible public diplomacy by President helped open new horizons,” he added.

“6 Iraqi cities toured in 3 days; 1st Iranian president to visit Basra & Kurdistan Region; 14 expansive MOUs signed. And much more,” Araqchi said.

The Iranian president traveled to Iraq on Wednesday in his first official foreign trip after taking office. He held talks with the Iraqi president and prime minister in Baghdad before signing 14 cooperation documents with the neighboring state.

He also visited the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.

The Iranian president has described cooperation for regional development as the guiding principle of his administration’s foreign policy.
