World Not Following US Anymore: Pezeshkian
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the era of compliance with the US policies has ended as independent countries have overcome American totalitarianism through interaction on the basis of various platforms, such as regional unions.
In a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan on Thursday, the Iranian president and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed the ties between Tehran and Minsk and international developments.
Pezeshkian referred to his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit, saying that a comprehensive agreement and several more memoranda of understanding are due to be signed during his upcoming trip to Moscow.
“The pattern of expanding interactions with Russia can also be extended to Belarus”, the Iranian president said.
He also spoke about US unilateralism, saying the era of unilateralist policies and cruel sanctions is coming to an end, as Western countries, including the United States, have realized that changes are taking place in the world, which they cannot affect, his official website reported.
Pezeshkian also said that the Zionist regime is conducting its evil acts and causing regional insecurity under US direction, and rejected as unacceptable the practice by some countries, which support the killing of innocent people and at the same time claim to be champions of human rights.
“We are seeking to create a world filled with fairness and justice, and without double standards on key issues like human rights”, Pezeshkian noted.
Lukashenko, for his part, said Belarus is ready to accelerate the implementation of bilateral agreements with Iran, and invited Pezeshkian to visit his country.
Iran and Belarus enjoy various capacities to expand their bilateral ties, Lukashenko said, adding that Belarusian markets are ready to receive Iranian manufacturers, businessmen and products.
He also said that the launch of the International North-South Transport Corridor would facilitate access of Iranian and Belarusian businessman to each other’s markets, stressing that he is decisively pursuing the expansion of ties with Tehran.
