Pezeshkian Hails Appointment of New Hezbollah Chief


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Sheikh Naim Qassem on his appointment as the secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.

In a message on Tuesday, Pezeshkian paid tribute to late secretary general of Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was martyred in an Israeli strike on September 27.

The Iranian president congratulated Sheikh Qassem on his appointment as the new secretary general of Hezbollah, and also congratulated the Lebanese people and government as well as all fighters of the resistance front.

"Undoubtedly, in this sensitive time, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, as well as the lofty ideals of the resistance front and the oppressed people of Palestine, is of historical importance”, Pezeshkian said in the message, his official website reported.

The president expressed confidence that Sheikh Qassem’s appointment would strengthen the resistance movement’s resolve and lead to the continuation of the path of martyrs.

Pezeshkian also expressed hope that the Zionist regime’s aggression would come to an end, and peace and security would be restored to Gaza, Lebanon and the entire region through the unity of the Islamic Ummah, and the increased support of Muslim countries, as well as the assistance of people with moral conscience worldwide.

He finally wished Sheikh Naim Qassem health and happiness, and success in his new post.
