Hezbollah Appoints Naim Qassem as New Secretary General
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hezbollah named Sheikh Naim Qassem as its new secretary general, following the martyrdom of the Lebanese resistance movement’s long-time leader Hassan Nasrallah.
In a statement, Hezbollah announced that Qassem was selected due to his “adherence to the principles and goals of Hezbollah.”
"The Shura Council of Hezbollah agreed to elect His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem as Secretary General of Hezbollah, carrying the blessed banner in this journey, asking God Almighty to guide him in this noble mission in leading Hezbollah and its Islamic resistance," the statement said.
Hezbollah’s leadership emphasized that the decision to appoint Qassem aligns with the group’s commitment to " pure Muhammadan Islam" and its foundational principles.
"We ask God Almighty to help Sheikh Naim Qassem successfully carry out this honorable mission of leading Hezbollah and the Islamic resistance," the group added.
Hezbollah also reaffirmed its dedication to its founding objectives, pledging loyalty to the “spirit of our martyr, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah,” along with all other fallen fighters and the steadfast people of Lebanon.
The statement concluded with a commitment to "keep the flame of resistance burning and the flag raised until victory is achieved."
