Foreign Minister of Iran Goes to Turkey after Syria Visit
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Ankara early Monday after a visit to Damascus.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Ankara, Araqchi said he will be holding extensive talks with his Turkish counterpart about common concerns.
He expressed hope for the achievement of an understanding and common interpretation of the regional issues that would contribute to regional stability and prevent Syria from turning into a hub of terrorists again.
On his visit to Damascus, Araqchi said he expressed Iran’s full support for the Syrian government and army at a meeting with President Bashar al-Assad.
He said that terrorist groups mistakenly believe that they have an opportunity for resurgence amid the situation caused by the Israeli regime’s onslaught on Palestine and Lebanon.
Araqchi stated that the Syrian government and army are capable of acting against terrorists and their miscalculations, adding, “Of course, the resistance groups will also assist (Syria), and the Islamic Republic of Iran will provide whatever support necessary.”
