Russian Nuclear Protection Forces Chief Killed in Moscow Bomb Blast
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A bomb concealed in an electric scooter killed a senior Russian general responsible for nuclear protection forces in Moscow, Russia's Investigative Committee announced.
Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops, was killed outside an apartment building on Ryazansky Prospekt in Moscow.
The blast also claimed the life of his assistant.
“Igor Kirillov, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, and his assistant were killed,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
Photographs shared on Russian Telegram channels depicted the shattered entrance of a residential building, debris scattered across the area, and two bodies lying motionless in the blood-streaked snow.
The Investigative Committee has launched an inquiry into the incident, but further details on suspects or motives have not yet been provided.
