NGO, Right Group say Israel Committing Genocide in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) have accused Israel of committing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, citing severe conditions caused by the ongoing military offensive.

Doctors Without Borders Secretary General Christopher Lockyear said on Thursday that Israel is showing “signs of ethnic cleansing” in its operations across the Palestinian territory.

The Israeli military is “destroying the conditions of life” in Gaza through prolonged attacks on civilians, dismantling healthcare systems and infrastructure, and blocking humanitarian aid, the aid organization said.

“We are seeing clear signs of ethnic cleansing as Palestinians are forcibly displaced, trapped, and bombed,” Lockyear stated.

He added, “What our medical teams have witnessed on the ground throughout this conflict is consistent with the descriptions provided by an increasing number of legal experts and organizations concluding that genocide is taking place in Gaza.”

Last week, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling for an immediate end to Israel’s war in Gaza.

The resolution, adopted on December 11, received support from 158 countries and urged “an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire” in the region.

In a separate report published on Thursday, Human Rights Watch concluded that Israel is guilty of “extermination” and acts of genocide in Gaza.

The US-based organization found that Israel has imposed “conditions of life” intended to destroy Gaza’s Palestinian population.

This, according to HRW, amounts to extermination — a crime against humanity — and genocide.

International organizations have condemned Israel for deliberately targeting civilians, obstructing humanitarian aid, and creating starvation conditions through siege policies and attacks on aid workers.

Since October 2023, more than 45,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed, while over 107,300 others have been injured, as Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues.
