Turkey Urged to Avoid Comments Harmful to Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An assistant to the Iranian foreign minister called on Turkey to avoid making comments or giving analyses that are to the detriment of the two neighbors’ mutual interests.

Turkish ambassador to Tehran Hicabi Kirlangic went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on Monday to hold a meeting with Mahmoud Heidari, an assistant to the foreign minister of Iran and the director general of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe Department of the Foreign Ministry.

In the meeting, the Iranian diplomat reminded Turkey that it is necessary to avoid making inappropriate comments and giving unreal analyses that may ignite disagreement or tension in the bilateral relations considering the delicate regional conditions and the mutual interests of the two neighbors.

Heidari described the Zionist regime’s constant acts of aggression and expansionism as the biggest threat to regional stability and security.

“Major Islamic countries are expected to focus their efforts on stopping the Zionist regime’s crimes and aggression against the oppressed people of Palestine and other regional nations, including Syria,” the Iranian official told the Turkish envoy.

For his part, Kirlangic emphasized Turkey’s policy of maintaining and expanding amicable relations with Iran.

The ambassador said Turkey and Iran need to work in close cooperation to promote the bilateral relations, strengthen regional interaction, and counter the existing threats.

The envoy said he will convey the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s view to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
