War on Gaza Reflects Failure of Israel’s Regional Proxy Wars: Vice Speaker
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Vice speaker of the Iranian parliament said on Sunday that the war on Gaza signifies the failure of proxy wars initiated by Israel in the region, including in Syria and Iraq.
“Israel’s recent behavior in Gaza is the outcome of the failure of the proxy wars in the region in the past three years. During the years and behind the scenes, the Zionists together with the US waged the war on Syria and then on Lebanon and Iraq in a bid to create a margin of safety for themselves and break the (anti-Israel) axis of resistance,” Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard said during the Sunday session of Iran’s Parliament.
The vice speaker condemned Israel for killing scores of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, stressing that Israelis’ incursion into Gaza results in more humiliation of the Zionists, as the Israelis who claim to have the fifth biggest military in the world attack on a small enclave with a population of 1.5 million with no political and military achievements.
Aboutorabifard further expressed Iran’s solidarity with the Palestinians, wishing success and victory for the oppressed Palestinian nation.
Israel has launched a new wave of airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip after tensions raged between Palestinians and Israelis following the burning alive of a Palestinian teen in East al-Quds by Zionist settlers.
The death toll from Israel's bombardment of Gaza has increased to over 160 since Tuesday. More than 1,000 Palestinians have also been injured in the attacks.
