Diplomat: Massive Quds Day Rallies to Boost Palestinians' Morale

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon said massive rallies on the International Quds Day provide fresh impetus for the Palestinian fighters in their battle against Israel and would also deter the Tel Aviv regime’s acts of aggression.

“Marking the International Quds Day heartens people of Palestine and the Palestinian fighters and strengthens them against the Zionist regime's invasion,” Ghazanfar Roknabadi told the Tasnim News Agency on Friday.

As regards the other positive outcomes of a worldwide show of support for Palestine on the Quds Day, he said the move is an effective deterrent against recurrence of Israeli crimes in the occupied territories.

The Quds Day has a “profound impact on the issues regarding Palestine,” Roknabadi underlined.

Each year, the International Quds Day is celebrated on the last Friday of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

The event’s overarching theme is support for the Palestinians and fierce denunciation of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.

This year's rallies came against the backdrop of a massive Israeli onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Over 800 Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,200 have been injured in 18 days of Israeli attacks.
