Syrian Army’s Victories Amaze World: Egyptian Analyst
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Egyptian analyst and journalist praised Syria for its resistance against enemies, and said the country’s army has astonished the world by its great victories over insurgents.
“The Syrian army, is a great army, which has been established on the basis of faith,” Mohamed Hassanein Heikal, said in an interview with Tunisia’s Alchourouk.
“Many have tried to break the army, but despite its severe battles of attrition with armed groups… the army has managed to achieve huge victories, which have astonished the world,” he noted.
He also described the army’s achievements as an important factor in the equations of the Syrian war, saying that anyone who ignore the victories is wrong in his judgments about the situation in the country.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. More than 191,000 people have been killed in over three years of fighting in the war-ravaged country.
The US and its regional allies- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - have been supporting the terrorist militants operating inside Syria for more than three years.
Iran has frequently underlined its support for the Syrian government and people in their battle against foreign-backed terrorists.
