Iran’s Navy to Employ New Submarine

“Good things are going to happen in the future in the field of manufacturing military equipment, and a new submarine will join the Navy,” Sayyari told the Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday.

Back in December 2014, the commander had unveiled plans for testing a new submarine, dubbed Fateh (Conqueror).

The commander had described Fateh as one of the most advanced submarines of the country and the region.

With the new product coming into service, the Iranian Navy will be equipped with the full range of light, medium and heavy submarines.

The 527-ton Fateh is said to be highly mobile with the capability to cruise fast and far in deep waters. It is also capable of firing torpedoes and laying mines.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
