WASHINGTON DC (Tasnim) – Hundreds of US activists and families of victims of violence staged a protest rally in the capital, Washington DC, to voice their outrage over the gun violence in their communities.

According to Tasnim dispatches, over 500 people held their annual "Standing for Peace and Justice" rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on Saturday.

During the rally, the members of Mothers In Charge (MIC), a violence prevention organization, carried the pictures of their loved ones who had been murdered by gun violence.

The mission of MIC is violence prevention, education and intervention for youth, young adults, families and community organizations.

Many of the participants in the rally represented anti-violence groups from across the US, including the Brady Campaign.

Some were local, many were from the Philadelphia area and some traveled from as far as California to attend.
