Iran, Afghanistan Keen for Closer Cooperation in All Fields
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and visiting Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah stressed the need for efforts to boost mutual cooperation between the two neighboring countries in all areas.
In the meeting held in Tehran on Wednesday, Rahmani Fazli emphasized the necessity to improve conditions for Iran and Afghanistan to promote bilateral ties and cooperation in different areas of politics, economy and security.
He also called for careful planning for utilizing the two countries’ potentials to expand Tehran-Kabul relations.
The Iranian minister further expressed the hope that future meetings of the bilateral joint commission on cooperation would lead to further progress and prosperity for the two sides.
The Afghan politician arrived in Iran on Monday and held meetings with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
During the meeting with the Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated Iran’s support for Afghanistan, saying the Islamic Republic regards peace and security in the neighboring country as its own.
