Russia to Inspect Turkey’s Products Disguised as Iranian Exports: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will take measures necessary to block export of banned Turkish products disguised as Iranian ones to the Russian market, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.
Iran’s National Quarantine and Plant Protection Service will send information of interest for Rosselkhoznadzor using actualized email addresses, Rosselkhoznadzor said in statement, Tass reported on Monday.
In a telephone conversation on Monday, relevant authorities of Iran and Russia discussed measures for increasing the safety level during supplies of quarantine products from Iran to Russia.
Furthermore, the Iranian side will verify authenticity of all phytosanitary documents send by Moscow for authorization, the Russian regulator said.
Rosselkhoznadzor approached the Iranian side for the purpose of preventing import of quarantine products by Russia with attached forged phytosanitary certificates, the regulator added.
Tensions between Russia and Turkey have been on the rise since November 24, when Turkey shot down the Russian fighter jet that Ankara says had entered Turkish airspace, a claim strongly rejected by Moscow.
Following Turkey’s move to down the Russian Su-24 military aircraft, Moscow imposed a set of economic and other sanctions against Turkey. Some measures were put into effect immediately, while others have been applied from January 2016.
Russia has been carrying out airstrikes against terrorist groups in Syria since September 30, upon a request from the Syrian government.
