India’s NALCO Mulling Construction of Power Plant in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – India’s national aluminum company NALCO will soon send a delegation to Iran to seek opportunities for building a gas-based thermal power plant in the country after the termination of anti-Tehran sanctions, a report said.
“Now as the sanctions have gone, Nalco will send a team to Iran to explore options for setting up the project by next month or March,” Press Trust of India quoted an official with NALCO as saying on Sunday.
“They will also visit Oman and Qatar. Since we can get really cheap power in these countries, this will help bring down production cost,” the source added.
The announcement came a week after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), came into force.
Based on the nuclear deal, reached in July 2015, all nuclear-related anti-Iran sanctions have been removed.
