AFC Futsal Championship Good Preparation for World Cup, Iran Coach Says
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian national futsal team's coach Mohammad Nazemalsharia believes that AFC Futsal Championship was a good preparation for his men ahead of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
Iran won the title after defeating Uzbekistan 2-1 in Tashkent on Sunday.
“This tournament was great for preparing us for the World Cup. It is a good situation for Iranian futsal as our club side and women’s side have won the Asian championships,” Nazemalsharia told the-afc.com.
“For the past two tournaments we couldn’t be champion because we were going through a generational change. But we had great preparation for this tournament, so we went into it thinking that we would be champion."
"We played well throughout the competition, but as a team I still think we can get better,” he added.
