Iran Strongly Condemns Brussels Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Tuesday denounced the deadly attacks in the Belgian capital of Brussels, which claimed the lives of at least 28 and injured 90.

Jaberi Ansari condemned the attacks and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims as well as the Belgian nation and government.

The recurrence of terrorist operations in different parts of the world indicates that terrorism and extremism are common threats to the entire world, the Iranian spokesman noted.

These attacks once again showed the necessity for an integrated and all-out confrontation with this inauspicious phenomenon and the centers that support it politically, ideologically, and financially, he went on to say.

Several explosions struck Brussels airport and the metro system, causing at least 28 deaths, Belgian media said.

For the first time in the country’s history, Belgium raised the terror threat to the highest "fourth" level, the country's prime minister said.

Borders with France and Netherlands have reportedly also been closed.
