Islamic Solidarity Games: Iran’s Nahid Kiani Wins Gold at Taekwondo
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Nahid Kiani won Iran’s ninth gold medal at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku on Tuesday.
In the women’s -53kg taekwondo, she defeated Zeliha Agris from Turkey 8-5 and won the title.
Bronze medal went to Tunisian Rahma Ben Ali and Mariska Halinda from Indonesia.
Narjes Andevari Emamgholinejad in the 10-metre air rifle, karate fighters Nasrin Dousti and Sajjad Ganjzadeh, judoka Saeid Mollaei, Najmeh Khedmati at the women's 50m rifle 3 positions, Golnoush Sebghatollahi, Pourya Norouziyan in the 50m Rifle 3 Position and weightlifter Seyedayoob Mousavi at the women's 10m air pistol have previously won six gold medals for Iran.
More than 3,000 athletes from 54 countries of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation are competing in 21 sports at the Games.
The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital.
