Iran, South Africa Agree to Boost ICT Cooperation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi and his South African counterpart agreed to promote cooperation between the two countries in the area of information communication technology (ICT).
In a meeting held on the sidelines of ITU Telecom World 2017, taking place in Busan, South Korea, Azari Jahromi and Azwihangwisi Faith Muthambi discussed development of bilateral cooperation in the field.
The two sides agreed to increase joint investments in ICT, conduct joint research in LEO (low earth orbits) satellite systems, and cooperate in e-commerce and cyber-security.
Speaking at the meeting, Muthambi hailed Iran’s achievements in ICT research and called for closer cooperation between the two countries in the area.
Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who was re-elected back in May, has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with the African states.
