Syrian Deputy FM Warns about Crushing Response to Aggressors
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Meqdad said Damascus will give crushing response to aggressors in the same way that the country responded to an Israeli warplane’s aggression recently.
“Anyone who dares to launch offensive against Syria will fate a destiny similar to the Israeli warplane’s,” Meqdad said on Sunday in a ceremony held in the Iranian embassy in Damascus to celebrate the 39th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
He described the Syrian army’s move to shoot down the Israeli F-16 fighter jet as an ‘achievement’ and said, this “shows that Syria has adopted the decision to defeat its enemies.”
The remarks came after an Israeli F-16 fighter jet was shot down by Syrian military on Saturday while targeting what it called Iranian sites responsible for launching a drone into occupied Golan Heights.
Pro-government military alliance in Syria said in a statement on Saturday that Israel would see a severe and serious response to its "terrorism" from now on.
The statement also said the drones -one of which Israel claims to have shot down- were being used against Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group.
