Persepolis, Esteghlal Victorious in IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian football giants Persepolis and Esteghlal emerged victorious against their rivals in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Saturday.
Persepolis defeated struggling Sepidrood Rasht 3-1 and returned to top of the table.
Persepolis striker Ali Alipour scored in the 10th minute and Ahmad Nourollahi extended the lead in the 31st minute. Siamak Nemati also was on target five minute before the interval.
Mehrdad Bayrami pulled one back for the host in the 67th minute.
Bayrami failed to score a penalty two minutes later.
Esteghlal beat Nassaji Mazandaran 1-0.
Persepolis sits top of the IPL table with 45 points.
Esteghlal and Tractor Sazi are second and third respectively with 43 points.
