Iran’s Coach Mehran Shaintab: We Can Hold Our Heads High

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national basketball team coach Mehran Shahintab is satisfied with the way his team played against Spain.

Iran lost to the European powerhouse team 73-65 in Group C of the 2019 World Cup on Wednesday.

“It was a strong and physical game. We lost focus in the last two minutes. We lost but our heads are held high. We did our best but Spain used their experience in the last two minutes,” Shahintab said.

“We face Philippines and Angola, which we wish to win. They are very important games for us. We have to use this opportunity and it brings us another chance. Tomorrow is another day for us. We are ready for the next stage,” he added.

Iran will play the Philippines on Friday and face Angola on Sunday in Group N.
