Iran’s Haddadi Reacts to Puerto Rico’s Loss at FIBA World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national basketball team center Hamed Haddadi says that things didn't go the way they were expecting in the match against Puerto Rico.

Iran lost to the Caribbean team in Group C of the FIBA World Cup 2019 in Guangzhou, China on Saturday.

“We were not tired, Puerto Rico just played fast and pushed the ball. Sometimes things don’t get your way, you make turnovers, and that’s happened. There was not a conditioning issue. The only issue we lost the game was turnovers,” Haddadi said.

David Huertas, who scored 32 points and paved the way for Puerto Rico to fight back, praised the Iranian team.

“I want to give credit to Iran, they played really well, and I am so proud of my teammates for the way we kept fighting,” said Huertas. “There’s no way to describe how I am feeling.”
