Azgan Wetland: One of The Most Outstanding Attractions in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Azgan Wetland is one of the most outstanding attractions of Iran's western province of Lorestan that emerges annually with the melting of snow.
The Azgan Wetland, also known as the Gharoon Wetland, is located on the foothills of the Periz Mountain.
It is a seasonal wetland that generally contains water until the end of spring and then dries up until the start of the rain season in autumn. This wetland is the result of rainwater accumulation or the melting of snow on Gharoon Mountain.
Plant species in this area include narcissus, lily of the valley, wild carnations, mint and pennyroyal. Animal species such as brown bears, leopards, wolves, wild boars, wild horses and mountain goats also live here.
