Africa Day Reminder of Brave Struggles of Africans against Oppression: Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated African people on the occasion of Africa Day, saying that the day reminds us of the “brave struggles of Africans against oppression”.

“Congratulations on #AfricaDay2020, reminding us of the brave struggles of Africans against oppression. Iran has always been—and will forever be—a reliable partner of all fraternal African nations. Amid #COVID19 ready to share our experience and expertise to help save lives,” Zarif tweeted on Monday.

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.

Expansion of relations with African nations in all political, economic, and cultural fields is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly stressed his government's interest in boosting relations with the African states.
