Darb-E Koushk: One of The Old Qazvin's Gates, North of Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The port Darb-e Koushk is located in the city of Qazvin (homonymous region), north of Iran, dates back to the Qajar period and its majolica belong to the year 1296 of the lunar Hegira.

It, which is one of the oldest gates of Qazvin, has an entrance with a triangular arch and a semicircle.

On each side of the corridor two arches have been built that protrude lightly towards the outside and resemble an open embrace. This door has only one facade to the outside of the city which has majolica decorations, its inside is made of simple bricks and on both sides are visible goldasteh and of the arcades.

The Darb-e Koushk gate looked over Alamut, Rudbar, the hunting grounds of the north of Qazvin and the palaces (koushk) and for this reason it became known by this name or by that of Via Koushk. The city of Qazvin in the Qajar era had nine gates whose walls were joined. Today there are only two left, Darb-e Koushk and Tehran-Qadim.
