TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Siamak Nemati's goal for Persepolis was voted by fans as the most memorable AFC Champions League semi-final goal from the six that had been picked by the-AFC.com.
With anticipation building for the 2020 AFC Champions League final, where Iran champion Persepolis will be aiming to win the continental title for the first time, their fans voted in huge numbers for Nemati.
Facing Qatar's Al Sadd in an Azadi Stadium packed to the brim, the return leg of the semi-final was tied 1-1 when Nemati struck to take Persepolis into the 2018 AFC Champions League final against Japan's Kashima Antlers.
Few semi-final goals will ever be celebrated by so many in attendance.
Tehran's Azadi Stadium was packed with 100,000 fans and Siamak Nemati ensured they would not leave disappointed. The scores were level at 1-1 on aggregate following Baghdad Bounedjah's opener but Nemati, who helped Persepolis past Al-Nassr in the 2020 semi-final, edged the Iranians back ahead.
