Over 7,500 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry reported more than 7,500 new coronavirus cases on Thursday.

Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has reached 1,778,645 after the detection of 7,530 new cases since yesterday.

She said the infectious disease claimed 89 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Iran to 61,581.

According to Lari, more than 1,521,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The spokeswoman also noted that more than 11,976,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country so far.

Worldwide, the number of people infected with COVID-19 is close to 122 million and the death toll has surpassed 2.69 million.
