Iran Reports over 7,700 New COVID-19 Cases

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 7,700 new coronavirus cases were detected in Iran from Friday noon to Saturday noon, the Health Ministry said.

Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Saturday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country reached 2,739,875 after the detection of 7,723 new cases over the past 24 hours.

She put the daily death toll at 200, saying the total number of deaths from the disease in the country has reached 76,633.

According to the spokeswoman, more than 2.21 million COVID-19 patients in Iran have recovered from the disease or have been discharged from hospitals so far.

She added that 17.88 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and more than 1.75 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

Worldwide, more than 162 million people have been infected with COVID-19 and nearly 3.38 million people have died of the disease.
