Coronavirus in Iran: Zero Deaths in 16 Provinces
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Half of the 32 provinces in Iran have reported zero new deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, as the country has marked one of the lowest daily fatalities in the past nine months.
Over the past 24 hours, 2,196 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported in Iran, with 341 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Friday.
It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 130,992, saying the disease has taken the lives of 46 patients over the past 24 hours, while no patient has died in 16 provinces.
More than 5,995,700 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,167,000 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.
Some 2,941 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The ministry also said that over 59.02 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 50.1 million have received the second dosage, and more than 3.46 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 273 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.35 million.
