Bahraini Protesters Burn Israeli Flag amid Bennett's Visit (+Video)
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahraini protesters burned the Israeli flag during a protest against a two-day visit by the Tel Aviv regime's prime minister, Naftali Bennett, to the tiny Persian Gulf island country.
Protesters lit the regime’s flag on fire, tramped on it, and held signs that read, "Naftali get out," according to photos and video from Tuesday's events in the capital, Manama, and elsewhere across the country.
The rallies took place in the midst of the country's security forces enforcing rigorous security measures.
Security forces repressed the protests in the eastern Bahraini island of Sitra, arresting a number of demonstrators.
Participants at al-Musalla, near the capital, yelled slogans against the kingdom's ruling Al Khalifa regime and urged the regime’s officials to end the normalization deal with the occupying regime of Israel.
Bennett's trip, which began on Monday, was the first by an Israeli prime minister since Manama and Tel Aviv normalized relations under a US-sponsored pact in 2020.
On Monday, Bahrainis took to the streets across the country to protest the Israeli official's visit and commemorate the country's 2011 revolution against the ruling regime.
While ingratiating itself with the occupying regime, Manama tows a decades-long history of cracking down on the island’s Shiite Muslim majority.
Scores of Bahrainis have lost their lives, and hundreds others either imprisoned or stripped of their Bahraini citizenship during the heavy-handed crackdown.
