Iranian Weightlifters Claim Medals at Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting C’ships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Junior lifters Ali Esfandiari and Mohammad Masoud Mamivand from Iran claimed a gold and a silver medal respectively at the 2022 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships on Monday.
In the +109kg, Esfandiari pocketed the gold by lifting 386kg (175-211).
Uzbekistan’s Mirzabaev Mirkhosil took the silver with (176-206-382) and the bronze medal went to Korean Jiyong Nam with (159-212-371).
Mamivand also won a silver medal in the 109kg with a record of (161-203-364).
Iraqi weightlifter Ali Ammar Rubaiawi won the gold with (171-202-373) and the bronze medal went to Uzbekistan’s Abdurashitov Nurbol with (145-171-316).
The competition began on July 15 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and finished on July 25.
