Hazfi Cup: Persepolis Beats Sepahan to Qualify for Quarterfinals
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated Sepahan 4-2 to book its place in quarterfinals of Iran’s Hazfi Cup.
Persepolis Georgian defender Giorgi Gvelesiani found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 12th minute but Danial Esmaeilifar scored an own goal in the 40th minute.
Issa Alekasir headed Persepolis ahead in the 57th minute but Farshad Ahmadzadeh equalized the match thanks to Persepolis goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand’s blunder in the 75th minute.
Substitute Siamak Nemati made the scoreboard 3-2 and Gvelesiani scored Persepolis’s fourth goal in the first extra time in Isfahan’s Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium.
Sepahan defender Siavash Yazdani was sent off in the 99th minute.
