Iran Suffers Fourth Loss at 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran suffered its fourth successive defeat in the 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III on Sunday.
Iran was defeated against Singapore 11-2 in Group B.
Iran started the campaign with a 14-4 win over Malaysia but lost to Hong Kong 11-1, Bosnia and Herzegovina 9-2 and Kyrgyzstan 18-0, respectively.
Team Melli finished in fifth place in the competition held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kyrgyzstan qualified for the 2024 Division III A as the top team, while Malaysia was relegated to 2024 Division IV.
Group A consists of Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei, South Africa, Luxembourg and Thailand.
The Group A tournament will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from April 17 to 23.
The 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III is an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation.
