French Police Violently Arrest Adama Traoré's Brother during Protest (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Youssouf Traore, the brother of Adama Traore, who died in police custody during an identity check, was forcefully detained by French police during a demonstration in Paris on Saturday.

Video footage captures the moment Traore is apprehended, handcuffed, and taken away by the officers.

In addition to Youssouf Traore, who was arrested for alleged acts of violence against public officials, another individual was also placed under arrest, according to media reports.

More than 2,000 demonstrators, including politicians, gathered at the Place de la Republique to participate in a rally honoring Adama Traore. The event, however, had been prohibited by French authorities due to recent incidents of urban violence.

It is further reported that Assa Traore, the sister of Adama Traore, will face legal consequences for organizing an unauthorized protest.

Adama Traore tragically passed away on July 19, 2016, while in custody during an identity check conducted by the gendarmerie. While the arresting officers claim Traore suffered a heart attack, the autopsy allegedly revealed that asphyxiation was the cause of death.

Meanwhile, hundreds of individuals took to the streets of Venissieux, a suburb of Lyon, on Saturday to protest against police violence following the fatal shooting of Nahel M during a traffic stop.

Demonstrators marched with flags, banners, and signs bearing messages such as "In mourning and anger" and "We're not pears, we're not prisoners, we're not slaves, and we're not guinea pigs! We are citizens."

On June 27, the teenager was shot in the chest during a routine traffic stop after reportedly failing to comply with instructions.

The incident sparked nationwide outrage and resulted in violent clashes with the police, particularly in Paris.

Protests have erupted in various French cities, including Paris, Toulouse, Nanterre, and Lille, following the tragic police shooting of Nahel in Nanterre.
