Iranian Athletes Claim Three More Bronzes at 2023 AKF Senior C’ships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Three Iranian karate athletes claimed bronze medals at the 2023 AKF Senior Championships on Saturday.
Sara Bahmanyar defeated Norah Alrashed from Saudi Arabia 8-0 at the Senior Kumite Female -50kg to win the bronze medal.
Fatemeh Saadati beat Indonesian Istri Agung 4-3 at the Senior Kumite Female -55 kg to finish in third place.
And Sajad Ganjzadeh defeated Sulaiman Al Mulla from the United Arab Emirates 5-0 at the Senior Kumite Male +84kg bronze medal match.
On Friday, Amir Mehdizadeh won the bronze at the Senior Kumite Male -67 kg.
Fatemeh Sadeghi at the Senior Kata Female and Abolfazl Shahrjerdi at the Senior Kata Male also claimed two more bronze medals.
Atousa Golshadnezhad at the Senior Kumite Female -61kg and Behnam Deghanzade had already claimed two gold medals at the Senior Kumite Male -55kg.
The event comprises 17 categories in the senior competition and seven categories in the Para-Karate event.
Nearly 400 athletes from 31 countries have registered to participate in the event underway in Melaka, Malaysia.
