TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian paid homage to founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah at his mausoleum in Karachi.

The Iranian foreign minister and his delegation paid a visit to Jinnah Mausoleum, known in Pakistan as Mazare Quaid-i-Azam, in Karachi on Friday.

Amirabdollahian paid tribute to the late founder of Pakistan, laid a wreath at his tomb, and signed a memorial book at the mausoleum.

Completed in 1971, the mausoleum is an iconic symbol of Karachi. Jinnah served as the leader of the All-India Muslim League from 1913 until the inception of Pakistan on 14 August 1947, and then as the Dominion of Pakistan's first governor-general until his death in 1948.

After the memorial service, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian attended an event held to name a newly-built street in Karachi after late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

The top Iranian diplomat is visiting Karachi after an official visit to Islamabad, where he held meetings with Pakistan’s senior political and military officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.
