Iran’s Azimi Snatches Gold at 2023 U-20 World Wrestling Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyler Mohammad Mobin Azimi won a gold medal at the U-20 World Wrestling Championships 2023 on Wednesday.
Azimi defeated Kazakhstan’s Rizabek Aitmukhan 5-4 in the final bout of 92kg.
It was Iran’s third gold medal in the competition as Mohammad Reza Shakeri in 65kg and Abolfazl Babaloo in 97kg had already won two gold medals.
The 2023 U-20 World Wrestling Championships started in Amman, Jordan on August 14 and will run until August 20.
The event was originally scheduled to be held in Warsaw, Poland from August 14-20. Due to Poland's refusal to issue visas to Russian and Belarusian wrestlers, United World Wrestling moved the tournament from Poland to Jordan.
