Iran’s Zare Takes Gold at 2023 World Wrestling Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Amir Hossein Zare of Iran won a gold medal at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships Sunday night.
The freestyler defeated Geno Petriashvili of Georgia 11-0 in the final bout of 125kg in Belgrade, Serbia.
Taha Akgül of Turkey and American Mason Parris claimed the bronze medals.
Earlier in the day, Iran’s Amir Mohammad Yazdani was defeated against American wrestler Zain Retherford 8-5 in the final bout of the 70kg.
Hassan Yazdani also lost to American wrestler David Taylor 9-3 in the final match of 86kg to win Iran’s second silver medal.
