Syrian Army Shoots Down Three Weaponized Drones in Northern Syria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian Military announced on Friday that they successfully intercepted and shot down three weaponized drones belonging to terror groups in northern Syria, as reported by the country's Defense Ministry in an official statement.

The ministry said"terrorist organizations" have persistently targeted civilians and military posts, posing a significant threat to the peace and stability of the region.

The recent act of aggression involved the launch of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles in the countryside of the northern province of Aleppo and the northwestern Latakia province.

In response to the attacks, Syrian forces retaliated by launching artillery strikes on the rebels' bases, resulting in the elimination of several militants and the destruction of a 4x4 vehicle utilized by the terrorists, according to the Defense Ministry.

Over recent months, terrorist groups, including Daesh (ISIS or ISIL), have escalated surprise attacks in northern and northeastern Syria, where they maintain hideouts.

Daesh, which seized extensive territories in Syria and neighboring Iraq in 2013, has operated underground since losing its last territorial holdings in eastern Syria in 2019.
