Iran Volleyball Loses to Germany in 2024 Olympics Qualifiers
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s men’s volleyball team lost to Germany 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21) in Pool A of the 2024 Olympic Games qualification in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Saturday night.
Amir Hossein Esfandiar earned 11 points for Iran, while Grozer György led Germany with 23 points.
Team Melli, who recently won the gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games, is in a round-robin competition with Brazil, Cuba, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Qatar and Ukraine.
Japan will play host to Pool B of the Road to Paris Qualifiers. It is joined in Tokyo by the teams of Egypt, Finland, Serbia, Slovenia, Tunisia, Turkey and the US.
China will host Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and Poland in qualification Pool C to be played in Xi’an.
The 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's Olympic Qualification Tournaments, alternatively the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup (for the tournament held in Japan) and also known as FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifier, are the three volleyball tournaments to be contested by 24 men's national teams of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), where the top teams will earn a place in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
