Iran Volleyball Suffers Sixth Loss in 2024 Olympics Qualifiers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran volleyball team lost to Cuba 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 25-13, 15-9) in Pool A of the 2024 Olympic Games qualification on Sunday.

Iran’s Amin Esmaeilnezhad scored 22 points, while Jesus Herrera Jaime earned 21 points for Cuba.

Iran lost to Germany, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Italy, Brazil and Cuba and defeated Qatar in the tournament.

The world's top 24 nations in men's volleyball competed at the FIVB Road to Paris Olympic Volleyball Qualifying Tournament (OQT).

The cities of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan) and Xi'an (The People’s Republic of China) hosted the qualifying event from September 30 to October 8.

The teams were in three groups of eight, with the top two in each pool at the end of the tournament qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Germany and Brazil advanced to the Olympics in Pool A, while Iran came seventh, a place above Qatar in the eight-team pool.

The U.S and Japan from Pool B and Poland and Canada from Pool C qualified for the Olympics.
