Iran Pushing to Send Aid to Gaza via Egypt
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is pressing for the delivery of humanitarian aid, including consignments of medicine and food, to the Gaza Strip through Egypt, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.
In a telephone conversation on Monday, the Iranian foreign minister and his Tunisian counterpart Nabil Ammar discussed the latest developments in Palestine and voiced concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Amirabdollahian underlined that the resistance in the occupied territories is a legitimate defense in order to deal with the occupation of Palestine. “According to our estimates, the resistance is fully prepared to respond to the Zionists’ warmongering,” he noted.
“We will continue our efforts to lift the siege on the people of Gaza and provide humanitarian aid, including sending medical and food supplies, to the enclave through Egypt,” the top Iranian diplomat stated.
He also expressed hope that the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Jeddah would firmly support the Palestinian people and stop the atrocities in the Gaza strip.
The Tunisian foreign minister, for his part, highlighted the proximity between Tunisia and Iran’s stances and said the slaughter of civilians in Palestine should stop as soon as possible.
Nabil Ammar noted that the brutal actions by the Zionist regime are not compatible with any humanitarian, legal and historical criteria, and the organized killing cannot be justified.
“What is happening in Gaza today undermines the credibility of the countries that support the Zionist regime’s positions,” the Tunisian minister stated.
The Israeli regime has been pounding the Gaza Strip for ten days. More than 2,800 Palestinians have been killed and around 10,000 wounded in the Israeli airstrikes.
The WHO has warned there are only “24 hours of water, electricity and fuel left” in the besieged Gaza Strip.
