Iran among World’s Top 10 Countries in Exporting 11 Products in 2022: FAO
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in its latest report said Iran was among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of exporting 11 agricultural products.
The report indicates that Iran has enjoyed a significant status in the world’s food supply, ranking among the major exporters of food products worldwide.
Iran was the largest exporter of figs in the world in 2022, FAO said, adding that the country exported 12,000 tons of high-quality figs to other countries last year, followed by Austria and Uzbekistan which stood in the second and third ranks respectively.
The FAO added that Iran was the second largest exporter of pistachios and dates in the world in 2022.
According to the statistics, Iran exported more than 45,000 tons of quality pistachios in 2022 while the United States exported 238,000 tons of pistachios in the same year.
Iran stood in second place after Iraq in the export of fresh dates in 2022. The country exported 269,000 tons of fresh dates in 2022 while Iraq exported 274,000 tons of dates last year.
Iran was also the third largest exporter of watermelon in the world in 2022, exporting 375,000 tons of this product in this period.
