TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The director general of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Department General said more than three million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at Amirabad Port north of Iran in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).

The loading and unloading operation of goods at the port in this period registered a 47 percent growth compared to last year’s corresponding period, Mohammad Ali Mousapour stated.

With the infrastructures constructed in the field of storing grains, it is expected that a new record will be registered at the port by the yearend (March 20, 2024) in the field of loading and unloading goods, he stated.

Turning to the 59-percent share of the port in sea trade at the Caspian Sea, Mousapour said import of goods at this port has witnessed considerable growth with the investment made by the private sector in the field of constructing silos and covered storage and also the situation of Amirabad Port in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

It is expected that the export of products from this port will grow following the creation of a green customs line between Amirabad and Makhachkala Port, he went on to say.
