Iran Refutes Allegation of Involvement in Trump Assassination Bid

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry refuted the story about Iran’s role in a recent assassination attempt against former US president Donald Trump.

In a statement early Wednesday, Nasser Kanaani denied the reports published by an American media outlet regarding Iran’s alleged role in the recent armed attack on Trump.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to pursue legal action against Trump for his direct role in the crime of assassinating Martyr General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. However, it strongly rejects any involvement in the recent armed attack on Trump or claims about Iran's intention for such an action, considering such allegations to have malicious political motives and objectives," the spokesman stated.

His comments came after CNN alleged in a report on Tuesday that US authorities have obtained intelligence from a human source in recent weeks on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Donald Trump, saying the development led to the Secret Service increasing security around the former president.
