Over 10 Million Tons of Basic Goods Imported by Iran in 5 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 10 million tons of basic goods valued at $6.3 billion were imported by Iran from March 21 to August 22, 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported.

It shows a 14.4 and a 1.7 percent growth in weight and value respectively compared to the same period last year, according to the report.

Soybean and red meat comprised the main part of basic goods imported into the country in this period in terms of weight, Mehr news agency reported.

Corn, soybean, types of oilseeds, barley, and edible oils were the first five basic goods imported into the country between March 21 to August 22, 2024, it added.
