Iran Imports over 4 Million Mobile Phone Handsets in 5 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) said more than 4.227 million cellphone handsets were imported into the country in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year.

The import of mobile handsets into the country from March 21 to August 22, 2024, registered a 15 growth in quantity and a 10 percent decline in value respectively compared to last year’s corresponding period, it said.

In this period, 4,227,082 mobile handsets were imported into the customs offices of the country, IRICA added, IRIB reported.

Of total mobile handsets imported into the country between March 21 and August 22, 2024, more than 4 million handsets, valued at $894 million, were imported through the commercial method while 133,000 others, valued at more than $72 million, were imported by passengers, the report added.
