Iranian Greco-Roman Wrestlers Win Four More Medals in U-23 World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers claimed two more gold and two more bronze medals in the 2024 U-23 World Wrestling Championships Wednesday night.

Iran's first gold medal of the day came from U-20 world champion Ali Ahmadi Vafa in 55kg as he added the U-23 world title to his growing resume. He had won the U-17 world title in 2022.

The 19-year-old was up against European silver medalist Rashad Mamadov from Azerbaijan in the final 11-3.

Multiple-time age-group world champion Fardin Hedayati added the U-23 world title with a dominant run in Tirana in 130kg. With a three technical superiority victories, Hedayati won the final 6-0 against Dmitrii Baboryko (AIN).

Erfan Jarkani beat Arman Vardanyanfrom Armenia 8-0 in the 63kg bronze medal match.

In 77kg bronze medal match, Ali Oskou defeated Doniyorkhon Nakibov from Uzbekistan 6-4.
